The Sheer Importance of Eyebrow Makeup

Before we share tips on how to fill in eyebrows, what’s the big deal with brows? What ways do they have an immense significance on your appearance and confidence? There are many benefits to perfecting your brows, and here are some of the top reasons to reach for a brow pencil.

First, eyebrow makeup can massively adjust your face shape. For example, a flat shape will shorten the appearance of your head, thus making it an ideal go-to for those with a protruding chin or broad forehead. You can also modify your eyebrow shape and thickness if you have a round face, by extending the length of the brow to take some volume off of your cheeks.

Well-framed eyebrows can also enhance your face by creating balance. Experts say that a symmetrical face is the essence of beauty, yet not many of us have a perfectly symmetrical face. If you have one eye that droops more than the other, accentuating the curve in that eyebrow can massively create a well-structured face. Another great reason to focus on your eyebrows is its ability to correct minor flaws and take attention away from any imperfections on your face.

Our eyes tell a story, and they’re the main focus of our face. Fortunately, eyebrows can brighten your face and help you to look more awake and youthful. As we age, the eyebrows become thinner, so adding in some thickness and voluptuous shape can knock off years on your face.

All this talk might seem like fixing your eyebrows is a huge hassle, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. If you’re short of time, prioritize filling in your eyebrows to help yourself look fresh and awake; no other makeup applicator is that powerful. Plus, filled-in eyebrows create a modern look that adds consistency to your face.

1. Define the start point of the eyebrows

Use a brush or a pencil to define the start point of your eyebrows. Place it alongside your nose and mark the meeting point with the eyebrow or brow bone.

2. Define the end point of the eyebrows

Use the same eyebrow pencil or brush to determine the end point of your eyebrows. Tilt it 45-degrees  approximately, to reach the end of your eyebrows. This is where these beauty marks should end.

3. Brush your eyebrows upward

Now that you’ve determined the start and end points of the eyebrows, use the spoolie brush to brush them upward. This is the first step of the how to properly fill in eyebrows that you need to be extra careful about.

4. Even out hairs with scissors

After the previous step, you will notice some stray hairs higher than your natural eyebrow line. Trim them nicely using a small pair of scissors. Brush over your eyebrows again to settle the hairs in their natural position.

5. Fill in the eyebrows with pencil strokes

Here is the tricky part. This step is the most important in the how to fill in eyebrows routine. Starting from the marked starting point of the eyebrows, through the arch and to the end point of the eyebrows, use soft strokes to mimic the natural hairs.

Apply these colorful strokes in a soft manner. When you apply too much pressure, the eyebrow pencil may look unnatural.

6. Even the color with the spoolie brush

Even out the color throughout the eyebrows by brushing them once more with a spoolie brush. As a finishing touch, you could use an eyebrow gel or wax. This eyebrow makeup product is used to keep the color in place.

Nevertheless, most eyebrow pencils will have a long-lasting color, so you don’t have to make applying wax a routine.

1. Pick the eyeshadow or brow fill-in powder shade

If you have ever wondered how to fill in eyebrows naturally with eyeshadow or brow powder, here’s the secret. You should choose shades that are slightly lighter than your natural brow color. For extra definition and filling in the eyebrow arch, choose a darker shade.

2. Fill in the eyebrow start point

Determine the start point of the eyebrow by placing the brush vertically alongside your nose. Deep the angled brush in eye shadow or powder, shake off excess product and use the brush vertically on the beginning of the eyebrow.

3. Fill in the eyebrow to the arch

Use the angled brush horizontally to apply eyeshadow or powder with gently strokes up to the arching point of the eyebrow. Continue filling in the eyebrows from the peak or arch to the end. Move from up to below to keep the look natural and minimize smudges.

5. Define the brow arch

If you feel like the arch needs extra definition, use a darker shade of eyeshadow or brow powder. Don’t abuse the color if you want to keep your eyebrows looking sleek and natural.

6. Level the color

Use the spoolie brush to brush through your eyebrows once more. This will help you level the color and smoothly arrange the hairs for a gorgeous, well-defined look. Apply wax to the spoolie brush for extra color hold and a sleek look.

How to Shape Your Eyebrows

One of the most important aspect to learning how to fill in eyebrows is figuring out how to shape them. When you’re deciding how to shape them, you need to make sure you choose something that doesn’t look fake or dramatic on your face.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to use small, hair-like strokes. You don’t want the front of your eyebrows to be too harsh or appear “squared off.”

Likewise, you also don’t want to overextend the tail end of the brow. If you do this, you’ll find that it draws your face downward.

Last, make sure to focus on a smooth arch that isn’t too pointed or overexaggerated.
