Nicole Mölders is the creator of High Latitude Style, a website dedicated to helping women stay confident, beautiful and sexy after the age of 50. Her insight into fashion comes from her desire to use clothes, not just as necessities, but as a means of self-expression. She was kind enough to share her views with us, so check out our Nicole Mölders interview below!
How did you start your website and why?
When I moved from Leipzig, Germany to Fairbanks, Alaska, I realized that I had to totally change the way I used to dress. First, there was the different climate with temperatures of 40 below zero in winter. Second, there were no department stores with quality clothes. Third, the new job required a different “dress code” even though there was no written one. Add the change in lifestyle and food, and a changing body entering midlife. Then you stand in front of your closet of beautiful clothes, but nothing to wear.
What’s your biggest motivation for creating Instagram/blog content?
Empowering other women to look their best ever.
The most important beauty/style tip you can share with our readers?
If it – the makeup, haircut, clothing item, accessory, shoe, bag, you name it – doesn’t make you feel great, lose it (when it is already in your closet), forget about it (when you are in the fitting room in a store) or return it (when you ordered it online).
Can you name one inspiring woman alive?
Only one! There are probably billions of women who are inspiring in one way or the other. Every woman (and man) can be inspiring with something they really do well, have a passion for it and the love to share it with other people. It can be in fashion, soccer, physics, medicine, serving others, playing music, acting, education.
Just to name some inspiring women in fashion: Lyn Slater (who is also a professor), Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss.
